Gas explosion near RCCG camp along lagos-Ibadan highway.(watch video)

On Monday the 29th of July an explosion rocked a gas plant located near Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) along Lagos-Ibadan highway, Mowe, Ogun state.
The Incident was reported to have injured two persons and destroyed four trucks, Business owners and residents were thrown into a panic by the incident.
There has been several reports on what started the fire but a commercial motorcyclist, Sunday Akande, who was in the scene of the incident had this to say.
Akande said, “I was at Mowe bus stop when I heard the loud bang. Everyone started running without knowing the source of the sound. It was some of my colleagues who were coming from the other lane inward Lagos that informed us that the fire was burning at the gas plant.
“So we drove there and saw that the plant was seriously burning. It was not quite long that the fire fighters arrived and started battling the fire. If not for them, the gas plant would have completely got burnt and possibly extend to other areas.”
Meanwhile The Director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, in a statement confirmed the incident on Monday.
She said
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is presently combating gas Fire at Sun Contractor Project Services Limited, K/m 46 Lagos- Ibadan Expressway, Mowe, Ogun State,” the statement read.
“The Fire which was reported at 11:22 hours, Monday, was subdued from causing secondary incidents by the Alausa and Ilupeju fire crews, leaving four stationed gas trucks severely burnt.
“There was neither case of injury nor death as damping down of the Fire has been concluded.”
The Redeemed Christian Church of God also confirmed in a statement that the incident did not affect their properties.
